Can I update changes without assistance? Can I opt not to have any changes made to my services? How long will service be interrupted? Will this affect my computer's security? What if my IP address(es) inventory does not match what your company has listed in my letter or email? Can my network administrator or technical support technician set up an appointment with your company? Can a DSL Northwest representative make these changes for me? Will my services improve with these changes? Why is DSL Only changing my IP address? Can I update changes without assistance? No. We must make changes in our equipment at the same time you update your modem or router. Can I opt not to have any changes made to my service? No. Changing your IP address is mandatory. Soon your current IP address will not route to our network. How long will service be interrupted? The service interruption will last as long as it takes for you to update your modem or router; typically just a few minutes. Will this affect my computer's security? No. Network Address Translation, firewall software and hardware will continue to operate normally. What if my IP address(es) inventory does not match what your company has listed in my letter or email? By all means please bring a discrepancy in your currently used IP address(es) to our attention when you call to update your IP address. If the old subnet or gateway addresses do not match what you are currently using, it is not of much concern. Can my network administrator or technical support technician set up an appointment with your company? Yes. We will work with your IT vendor to update your network equipment on your behalf. Can a DSL Northwest representative make these changes for me? No. We can walk you through changing your IP address over the phone but cannot access your modem or router remotely. Will my services improve with these changes? Your DSL speed will remain the same. Speed is determined by the telephone company who owns line that carries your DSL signal Why is DSL Only changing my IP address? It is necessary to change our IP allocation to conform to ARIN's IP allocation guidelines.
