DSL Troubleshooting

Here is some basic Troubleshooting steps you can do if your DSL line is down and you have no network connectivity.
  • Power cycle your DSL modem and all network devices.
  • Power cycle your computer.
  • Confirm power to computer and all network devices.
  • Confirm IP address information in your computer or router.
  • Double check all cables connected to the DSL modem and/or your computer.
  • Confirm dial-tone on the DSL phone line.

Line speed testing

To test your DSL line speed click on the link below to download a 10 Meg file. Look at the transfer rate and then multiply that by 8 to get your line speed in kbits. By default most browsers show transfer rates in Bytes while DSL line speed is referenced in bits.

  • 8 Bits = 1 Byte
  • kb = kilobits
  • kB = Kilobytes
